  • 2:30 PM: Andrea Tarr, Walking Through the Usability Testing Process

True usability testing is a discipline in and of itself. However if you don't have a usability staff, you can still improve the usability of your sites. Here is a practical guide for doing basic usability testing. We'll look at establishing the goals and tasks, creating prototypes, doing a heuristic walkthrough, doing surveys, conducting the usability test itself and analyzing the results.

Andrea Tarr got into computers when she was a librarian back in the late 70’s by taking home a self-study guide to the IBM System-32/34 and writing the first computerized circulation system in the state of New Hampshire.

Now, as Tarr Consulting, she is an independent consultant using Joomla with her clients because it gives clients a maintainable website that is easy to customize and extend. She specializes in understanding the customers' business needs and using her analytical & programming skills to fulfill those needs.

Andrea wrote an accessible Administrator template that is included in Joomla 1.6 and is one of the many people working to get 1.6 out the door.
